We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to provide high quality support to our Knowledge team in our Business Transactions Group, one of our key practice groups, which comprises our lawyers in the Corporate, Commercial and Financial Institutions Group.
We are looking for applicants to join us on a full-time basis based in either our Bristol or Reading office.
The Role
The principal role of our Knowledge Paralegals will be to support the Knowledge Lawyers (also known as Professional Support Lawyers), in the service they provide to BTG, particularly the Corporate and Financial Institutions Group, and to the wider Knowledge Team in the Firm.
You will assist the teams:
- in the creation and preparation of regular internal "Knowledge Update" publications. This involves a sweep of relevant legislative and regulatory developments, sectoral and market news, relevant case law and other topics of potential interest and then the writing and editing of updates, with a review by Knowledge Lawyers;
- with the project management and delivery of Knowledge projects such as the testing and roll-out of AI-enabled technological tools. This involves understanding the purpose of the project, liaising with wider stakeholders within the business, testing and bespoking and creating first drafts of training materials, with supervision by Knowledge Lawyers and other business professionals within the Firm;
- in maintaining and updating legal content on various Knowledge platforms such as client portals and the Knowledge pages of the Firm's intranet;
- in the collection, storage, maintenance and sharing of internal and external legal and market know-how;
- in the development and maintenance of template documents;
- in identifying potential topics and speakers for internal talks; and
- in legal research.
Technical Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A completed period of study within Law, either at undergraduate (or equivalent) level or above.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including Word, PowerPoint and other relevant common enterprise tools and an aptitude for becoming expert in new IT applications and systems.
- The ability to work to deadlines, to manage a busy workload and to report on progress; appropriate balance between confidence in own judgement and knowing when to refer decisions to lawyers and to Business Services professionals.
- The ability to research and analyse areas of law and regulation with appropriate supervision and to identify the key commercial issues for Osborne Clarke's clients and key practice points for our lawyers arising out of that analysis.
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail, and well-developed analytical skills.
Behavioural Competencies
The successful candidate will be:
- Resourceful, pro-active and motivated self-starter with excellent organisational skills; flexible, pragmatic and problem-solving approach.
- Client-orientated approach - both internally and externally; ability to think laterally; appreciation of Knowledge Lawyer and fee earner needs and constraints; commercially aware.
- Enthusiasm for law and regulation generally within a client-focused professional services environment.
