Osborne Clarke are seeking an experienced IT Asset Management Team Lead to join our growing IT department in our Bristol office.
This newly created role in a newly created Asset Management team will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the lifecycle of the firm's IT assets, ensuring they are effectively tracked, utilised, and maintained.
This is a permanent position offering hybrid working.
The role
The IT Asset Management Team Lead will be a key member of the IT Excellence team and will involve leading a team responsible for the deployment, inventory management, and disposal of hardware and software assets. The Team Lead ensures compliance with relevant policies and regulations, optimises asset usage to reduce costs, and supports strategic decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis.
Other key responsibilities include:
Asset Management: Oversee the procurement process for new hardware and software alongside the central Procurement team, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with company policies. Manage the deployment and installation of new assets, ensuring timely completion and adherence to specifications. Develop and implement strategies for extending the lifecycle of assets where possible, eliminating redundancies, unused assets, and unnecessary maintenance costs.
Policy Development: Develop and implement asset management policies and procedures, ensuring effective communication and adherence by all relevant stakeholders. Ensure accuracy and completeness of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and act as CMDB Practice Owner within the ITIL framework.
Financial Management: Collaborate with the ITS Leadership and Finance Teams to manage asset-related budgets and forecasts, supporting the ongoing creation and management of technology budgets. Monitor spending against the budget and provide regular updates on financial performance. Leverage technology to create dashboards to monitor KPIs, identify trends, and make recommendations to improve asset management practices. Collate Management Information and produce regular reports on asset status, utilisation, and costs.
Security and Compliance: Identify and report compliance risks, ensuring all hardware and software assets are secure and comply with Information Security policies. Implement measures to protect assets from theft, loss, or unauthorised access.
Team Leadership: Lead and manage the Asset Management team. Set clear goals and objectives for team members, monitor their performance, identify training and development needs, and facilitate appropriate learning opportunities. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, handle any team conflicts or issues promptly and effectively, and ensure that team members adhere to company policies and procedures.
We are looking for:
- Proven experience in IT procurement or a similar role.
- Good understanding of hardware and software lifecycle management.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage vendor relationships.
- Strong customer service ethic with a commitment to deliver an exceptional standard of service.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using procurement and inventory management software.
- Demonstrable leadership experience.
- Awareness of Information Security best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with Microsoft E5 and mobile phone management is a plus.
- Prior experience with ServiceNow and knowledge of ITIL framework are desirable.
