Osborne Clarke are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in our Bristol office.
This position will play a crucial role in maintaining the firm's accounting records and controls, preparing accounts, reports, analysis, and returns, and delivering annual accounts for the service companies.
This is a permanent position offering hybrid working.
The role
The Assistant Financial Accountant will be a key member of the Finance team, promoting collaboration, team working, and innovation. This role will involve supporting the Senior Finance Manager in the preparation of the firm's monthly profit and loss account, investigating variances against budget, and preparing variance reports.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Financial Reporting: Preparing key monthly reports of actual against budget to budget holders and monthly balance sheet reconciliations of key accounts, including payroll.
- Budgetary Control: Taking responsibility and budgetary control of certain overhead accounts, such as travel and staff entertaining.
- Annual Accounts: Supporting the Senior Financial Accountant in the preparation and finalisation of the firm’s annual accounts and ensuring all aspects of the tax year-end timetable are met.
- External Returns: Preparing and submitting other external returns, primarily statistical office returns.
- Fixed Asset Register: Maintaining the fixed asset register.
- Service Companies: Preparing monthly P&L and associated reports for all service companies, including VAT and tax returns, and finalising the financial accounts for all service companies.
- Intercompany Billing: Managing monthly intercompany billing between the International offices and service companies.
- System Support: Acting as Chrome River super user to provide support and training to the wider support functions on expenses.
- Ad Hoc Support: Providing ad hoc support to projects and other initiatives as required.
- Personal Development: Actively managing own personal training and development, identifying any suitable development opportunities.
We are looking for
- AAT qualified, and/or part qualified at CIMA/ACCA level, with study support available.
- Experience of working in a Finance department.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and consultancy skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work within a team or on own initiative.
- Collaborative, professional, and flexible approach.
- Ability to assist with the design and implementation of policies and processes.
- Strong IT skills, including high proficiency in Excel
