"They have some very good
lawyers. They are very smart, very business-focused and very aware"-
Chambers & Partners
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our highly regarded
Property Disputes team in Bristol, rated by Chambers & Partners as a
national leader outside London.
This is a great opportunity to join a team who are seeing
significant growth in work and a chance to build relationships with some
fantastic clients whilst working in a collaborative team environment. You will
be joining a successful firm with a collegiate and supportive culture, which
makes it a rewarding place to work.
The practice
Our
specialist Property Disputes lawyers excel in helping clients resolve all kinds
of disputes ranging from all aspects of landlord and tenant to complex and
highly technical development and land rights disputes for telecom operators.
The team handles cases at all levels of the Court system, as well as before
Tribunals and arbitration panels, in order to represent the interests of
clients. The practice also provides advice on risk mitigation and management in
the context of potential disputes and property related regulation.
We
have a premier client base and support these clients on a range of market
leading cases. Clients include British Land, Barratt Homes, Marks &
Spencer, Greystar, NGED (formerly known as Western Power Distribution),
Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure, Telefonica and Vodafone.

currently comprised of 2 Partners, 1 Legal Director, 6 Associate Directors, 7
Senior Associates, 5 Associates, 2 Trainee Solicitors, 7 Paralegals, a legal
manager and 2 Solicitor Apprentices. We work across office with our Reading and
London colleagues and the team in those offices comprises 3 Partners, 2 Legal
Director, 3 Associate Directors, 3 Senior Associates, 1 Associates, 1 Trainee
Solicitor, 1 Solicitor Apprentice and 1 Paralegal.
This role will primarily be supporting Leona Briggs and Emily Van
Schalkwyk, the partners in the team.
Technical skills and experience
Due to the technical nature of the practice, we are looking
for candidates who have worked within a recognised and respected Property
Litigation team and have a good track record in managing a varied caseload. You
will have strong drafting and legal technical skills and show an enthusiasm for
getting to know a client's sector as well as the relevant law. You will also be
able to demonstrate collaborative team working as well as working on your own
matters. Finally, evidence of having supervised more junior team members would
also be an advantage.
Experience required in tribunal litigation under the electronic
communications code, particularly in taking an MSV under paragraph 26 of the code
from service of notice through to trial, including advising on process,
evidence and strategy, and client facing experience throughout. Also experience
required in tree lopping claims and the overlap between the 1954 Act renewal
process and the code.
As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the
team, we are looking to appoint a Senior Associate in this area, although we will
consider candidates with more or less experience.
Your career development
Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award
winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this
provides you with:
- clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
- high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and
client exposure;
