We are seeking a Regulatory Disputes Knowledge Paralegal to provide knowledge support to the Regulatory Disputes Service Line within our Disputes & Risk Practice Group.
In this role you will keep our Regulatory Disputes lawyers and clients up-to-date on legal and regulatory changes. There is scope for the successful candidate to build in-depth knowledge of the areas covered by the Service Line, to utilise that knowledge both internally and externally, and to become a trusted source of support to fee earners.
The role can be based in either our London or Bristol office.
Key responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Keeping the Service Line updated on technical and market developments through regular, reader-friendly written internal updates.
- Leading and managing production of the firm's monthly external publication in this area, the Regulatory Outlook.
- Maintaining the Service Line's precedent collection and repository of useful live matter-generated knowhow.
- Supporting the delivery of the Service Line's training programme, including trainee training, NQ training, knowledge content for monthly team meetings, and ad hoc training on key areas (with supervision).
- Supporting the Service Line's BD initiatives, including identifying areas of interest for clients and contributing to/delivering external publications and client training (with supervision).
- With support from the other D&R Knowledge Lawyers, addressing queries from fee earners on current law and practice.
- Assisting the Head of D&R Knowledge with the development and implementation of knowledge strategy for the Service Line and the wider Group, including engaging fee earners with knowledge projects, and utilising technology to drive efficiencies and innovation.
Technical skills and experience
We are looking for someone with enthusiasm for law and regulation within a client-focussed professional services environment. Prior experience and/or study of the law is required. However, previous experience of the services covered by Regulatory Disputes is not essential and the successful candidate will be given support to get up to speed with the knowledge in this area.
You will also have:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Well-developed analytical skills;
- An ability to research and analyse areas of law and regulation and to identify key commercial issues and legal practice points;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Good self-starting skills;
- An ability to work to deadlines, to manage a busy workload and to report on progress;
- Strong IT skills, including Word, PowerPoint and other relevant tools, together with an aptitude for developing expertise in new IT applications and systems.
The Regulatory Disputes Service Line
Our Disputes & Risk Practice Group is divided into six service lines: Commercial Disputes, Construction Disputes, Property Disputes, IP Disputes, Regulatory Disputes, and Restructuring & Insolvency.
The Regulatory Disputes Service Line is made up of four sub-teams for which you will provide support: health and safety, product and consumer regulation, public procurement regulation, and global compliance (including anti-bribery and corruption, modern slavery and some sanctions support). Lawyers in the team are also part of the firm's ESG group.
The Disputes & Risk Knowledge Team
You will be part of our close-knit Disputes & Risk Knowledge Team, which includes four Knowledge Lawyers (who support other Service Lines within the Group) and a Knowledge Paralegal. You will work closely with them and also with other Knowledge Lawyers and Paralegals from across the Firm's innovative and market leading Knowledge Team.
