Osborne Clarke are looking to further invest in our Change & Transformation function, which has led to the creation of a Senior Change Manager role within our award‑winning, international law firm. This role will be central to leading the strategy, design and delivery of a variety of change initiatives that embed transformational change across our strategic priorities.
As a senior member of the Change Management Team, you will lead complex, cross‑functional and often international change programmes, ensuring that people, process and technology changes are effectively adopted and sustained across the firm.
This is a permanent position based in our Bristol or London office, with hybrid working and travel between our UK and international offices as required. The role is full‑time, but we are very happy to discuss part‑time or flexible working arrangements.
The role
The Senior Change Manager will be a key member of our Change & Transformation Team, working closely with colleagues in the Portfolio Management Office, Business Analysis, and Programme and Project Management teams. You will coordinate the work of Change Managers on aligned initiatives and act as a subject matter expert on specific types of change (for example technology‑led change, AI‑led change, or relocation programmes).
You will be accountable for the end‑to‑end design, development and implementation of change management programmes required to successfully embed change and realise benefits across the firm.
Other key responsibilities include:
Change Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the development of coherent change management strategies, plans and approaches for complex programmes, often with an international remit.
- Shape and govern change activities across a portfolio or functional area, ensuring alignment to firm strategy and strategic priorities.
- Act as a subject matter expert on people, process and technology‑led change, providing clear direction and challenge to ensure solutions meet business need.
- Coordinate and oversee the activities of other Change Managers working on related initiatives, promoting consistency, collaboration and best practice.
- Support the Head of Change and Change Management Lead in driving a strategic and joined‑up approach to change across the firm.
Change Planning, Delivery & Adoption
- Leverage established change management methodologies to design and deliver structured change interventions that support adoption and benefits realisation.
- Lead the assessment of change impacts across teams, offices and jurisdictions, translating findings into practical plans and interventions.
- Deliver successful change programmes that encompass training, communications, behavioural and cultural elements to support long‑term adoption.
- Work closely with Programme and Project Managers and Business Analysts to input into business cases, benefits realisation plans and risk registers, ensuring change activities are fully integrated into project delivery.
- Support the assessment and delivery of the wider change portfolio, helping to manage change saturation and competing demands on the business.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Identify, engage and effectively manage key sponsors and stakeholders at all levels of the firm, building trust and securing active sponsorship for change.
- Develop and deliver tailored engagement and communication plans that clearly articulate the case for change, desired outcomes and what this means for different stakeholder groups.
- Facilitate workshops, briefings and other interventions to surface issues, address concerns and build readiness and commitment to change.
- Promote a culture of open communication and constructive feedback around change initiatives, ensuring stakeholder insights are captured and acted upon.
Measurement, Coaching & Continuous Improvement
- Define and track meaningful change metrics and feedback mechanisms to demonstrate successful transition, adoption and programme delivery.
- Use qualitative and quantitative insights to assess readiness for change, refine interventions and inform continuous improvement.
- Coach, mentor and support the development of other Change Managers, sharing tools, techniques and lessons learned.
- Contribute to the development and promotion of a Change Management Centre of Excellence across the firm, helping to embed consistent standards, frameworks and methodologies.
We are looking for
- A proven track record of end‑to‑end change delivery across a range of change initiatives, ideally within complex or professional services environments.
- Previous line management experience and a demonstrable ability to coach, motivate and develop others.
- Inspirational communication skills, with excellent listening, presentation and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt your style to different audiences.
- Outstanding organisational, project planning, teamworking and time management abilities, with the confidence to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- A solid understanding of how individuals and organisations experience change, and of the change process from initial case for change through to embedding new ways of working.
- Gravitas and the ability to influence stakeholders and senior leaders, building consensus and moving others towards a common vision or goal.
- Flexibility and adaptability, comfortable working independently in ambiguous situations and responding to evolving priorities.
- Curiosity and creative thinking, with the ability to align change activities to broader strategic contexts and business objectives.
- Experience of using structured change methodologies to shape and deliver change management activities for transformation programmes, preferably in an international context.
- Proven expertise in preparing and coordinating change management strategies and successfully delivering them at portfolio or functional‑area level.
- A clear understanding of organisational issues and challenges, and the business rationale behind change initiatives.
- Change Management qualifications (for example Prosci or APMG) or equivalent practical experience applying recognised methodologies.
