We have an
exciting new opportunity for a Senior Associate in our Commercial Disputes
team, focusing in particular on insurance coverage and litigation for
policyholders (but with scope to maintain a broader commercial litigation
practice alongside this work).
This
opportunity is available on a permanent, full-time basis and we're open to
considering candidates wishing to be based in any of our three UK offices
(London, Reading and Bristol).
The practice
The insurance
team sits within our wider commercial disputes team, which acts on a wide range
of litigation and crisis management mandates for a broad range of international
and domestic clients, including market leaders in technology and telecoms, life
sciences and energy sectors in particular.
We are
frequently asked to represent clients on complex insurance disputes, primarily
on behalf of policyholders. Insurance
instructions include contentious matters advising on policy coverage, assisting
clients with claims preparation and advocacy, coverage litigation and
arbitration. In addition, the team handle an increasing volume of
noncontentious matters including policy advisory work, advising on
transactional insurance policies, and other insurance advisory work.
Due to the
nature of the practice, issues arise in relation to a many different classes of
business including Cyber, D&O, E&O, Property, Energy, Casualty,
Constructions and W&I.
Technical skills and experience
You will be a
commercial litigator with experience in providing coverage advice, on behalf of
policyholders or insurers and with an interest in developing these skills in a fast-growing
policyholder focused insurance practice.
Ideally, you will also have some experience of providing noncontentious
insurance advice or be keen develop this part of your practice. Familiarity
with multiple classes of insurance business is also an advantage.
The nature of
the practice is such that you should have a good grasp of basic aspects of
insurance law such that you feel confident on providing practical advice and
guidance on a wide spectrum of insurance issues (with partner level support
where required). You should also have
keen eye for detail and the ability to provide careful and concise advice. You will also have experience of UK coverage
litigation and/or arbitration.
Due to the
nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking for an
Associate or Senior Associate, although we will consider candidates with more
or less experience.
