We have an exciting new opportunity for an Associate to join our Chambers & Partners rated Banking team in London.
Our team is a well-established market leading practice with plans for further growth. We have strong relationships with all the UK’s major clearing banks, as well as a number of insurers, credit funds and specialist lenders, and we are fully integrated into OC's fast-growing national and international network.
We encourage each member of the team to build client relationships from the outset with a structured career path, goals and objectives at every level. You will be joining a successful firm with a collegiate and supportive culture, which makes it a rewarding place to work.
The practice
We are the preferred business lending counsel to all of the established UK banks. We are also a panel firm for various challenger banks, investment banks, international banks, private credit providers and insurers. These key lender relationships ensure we are highly active on some of the biggest national and international mandates, and in particular we act on a number of large multi-bank transactions.
We have a market-leading reputation acting for banks and borrowers in key sectors such as Tech, Media and Comms, Energy and Utilities, Financial Services and The Built Environment.
The team has substantial experience handling the financing aspects of leveraged transactions and MBOs for both borrowers, supporting our market-leading private equity practice, and for our own lender clients. We also have market-leading experience in debt fund work and a leading reputation for real estate finance work. In addition to this, the team has considerable experience in corporate finance project finance and advising fintech disruptors.

What we are looking for
We are seeking qualified lawyers who can demonstrate a broad range of experience across at least one of the areas mentioned above. This may have been gained since qualification or during training, but candidates must be able to show an in-depth level of understanding of Banking legal issues.
Our team prides itself on the commerciality of their advice to clients. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate in this manner, and be able to keep abreast of matters that are important to our clients.
As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint an Associate in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
Your career development
Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:
- clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress both on a firm wide basis and specifically within the team;
- high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
- thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
- robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
- reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.
Salary and benefits
We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
