We are
looking for an Associate to join our highly regarded Employment team in Bristol,
where we are ranked in the top tier by The Legal 500 and Chambers &
Partners and have been for more than 20 years.
You
would be joining one of the leading and
largest Employment teams in the UK, with the opportunity to provide
advice on aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law both
nationwide and internationally. Our collegiate and supportive culture makes it

The
practice
The
team provides a full service to clients in the UK and internationally including
advice on HR support and employment matters, employee disputes, across
advisory, employment litigation and corporate transaction services. The team
also works closely with our Incentives, Business Immigration, Pensions and
Health & Safety practices. TUPE and general transactional advice, both in
the UK and managing projects internationally
Exceptional
Technological Support
The
team works closely with our dedicated and industry recognised Osborne Clarke
Solutions team to be at the cutting edge of harnessing legal tech and AI.
International
We
have extensive experience in European international employment law matters
(being able to call on employment lawyers in our offices in nine other
jurisdictions26 international locations), allowing us to represent truly
international clients. Our team also has experience of managing cross-border
employment projects and our lawyers have the opportunity to take part in our
international secondment programme. on redundancy programs, Covid-19 responses,
general employment advice and employment issues involving trade unions and
employee representatives, which includes advising on collective bargaining and
industrial action disputes.
Complex
Work
The
team is also well known for their work on complex issues such as restructuring,
restrictive covenant work, reputational risk management and data privacy. We
operate across a variety of sectors and are regarded as one of the 'go-to'
firms across the financial services, telecoms, technology, recruitment, retail
and media & advertising sectors.
We
work for a fantastic range of leading clients such as Vodafone, Diageo Ralph
Lauren, NomuraHargreaves Lansdowne, PwC,
Deckers, Motorola, Mamas & Papas and Air CanadaWestern Power Distribution,
Eurostar, United Airlines and Standard Chartered Bank. It's an exciting time
for the team having recently celebrated a major client win, adding Diageo to
their impressive client base.
The
team is truly "full service" and has strength and depth in many areas
including: Employment Tribunals (one of the team is an Employment Judge); TUPE
(we represent one of the World's largest professional service firms on TUPE
matters); industrial relations (our team has recently been involved with the
Central Arbitration Committee and regularly advises on trade union and
industrial action issues).

The
team
The Bristol team is made
up of 4 Partners, 2 Legal Directors, 2 Associate Directors, 2 Senior
Associates, 5 Associates, 1 Trainee Solicitor and 1 Solicitor Apprentice.
Technical skills and experience
Due to
the technical nature of the practice, we are looking for evidence of a strong
academic record and training. In addition, we are looking for commercial acumen
and an ability to provide pragmatic advice across a fast moving case load As a
guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are
looking to appoint an Associate in this area, although we will consider
candidates with more or less experience.
